This year marks the China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges. To further promote media exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN, empower innovative development, and better enable regional media to fulfill their roles and responsibilities, the 2025 China-ASEAN Media Cooperation Forum was held in Luoyang, Henan Province on May 25. Under the theme "Promoting Intelligent and High-Quality Communication, Writing a New Chapter of Digital Cooperation", the forum was hosted by the China International Communications Group (CICG) and the ASEAN-China Centre, and organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution Administration, the People's Government of Luoyang City, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Henan Province.

The forum was attended by 160 Chinese and foreign guests, including Du Zhanyuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of CICG; Guo Weimin, President of the China Public Relations Association and former Vice Minister of the State Council Information Office; Jiang Ling, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People's Congress and Secretary of the Luoyang Municipal Party Committee; Ken Gunawadh, State Secretary of the Ministry of Information of Cambodia; Phan Thanh Tam, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam; San Lwin, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN; Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre; as well as representatives from government agencies of China and ASEAN countries, diplomatic envoys of the 10 ASEAN countries to China, media outlets, universities, think tanks, enterprises and international organizations. Yu Tao, Vice President of CICG, presided over the opening ceremony. eclicktech was invited to attend and exchanged practical achievements in "AI + Media Innovation" with mainstream media from ASEAN countries.

In his opening address, Du Zhanyuan pointed out that media, which connects China and the world, is an important force for promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing friendship and mutual trust. The 2025 China-ASEAN Media Cooperation Forum, focusing on issues such as media transformation and collaborative governance, is of great significance for empowering high-quality development with artificial intelligence and enhancing people-to-people connectivity under the new situation. He called on Chinese and ASEAN media to adhere to true multilateralism and jointly build a new global governance order; strengthen technology-enabled cooperation and create a new paradigm for international communication; and stimulate youth innovation vitality and cultivate a new generation of digital and intelligent communicators. Going forward, CICG is ready to maintain close cooperation with the ASEAN-China Centre and media, think tanks and cultural institutions of ASEAN countries, actively explore and practice in media communication and people-to-people exchanges, and contribute to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

At the sharing session, Zhang Yafei, Associate Professor at the School of Journalism of Renmin University of China; Zhang Weili, Senior Director of Technology Platform at eclicktech; and Nong Yaqing, Researcher at Kuaishou Research Institute, delivered keynote speeches to more than 20 media representatives from ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

Zhang Weili stated that amid the AIGC wave, the role of media is evolving from content creators to intelligent collaborators. The value of AIGC lies not only in supporting content generation through deep learning and improving production efficiency through human-machine collaboration, but also in forming innovative content formats and building a panoramic news experience with multimodal integration through cross-border integration.
